1996: One of the First Food Trucks in São Vicente
Le Metalo began with an old truck that left La Ciotat, carrying a « Corsi-Cape Verdean » couple and, soon after, little Lola. On July 11, 1996, one of the first food trucks in Cape Verde opened on the Praça Nova in Mindelo, São Vicente. On the menu: homemade burgers, generous milkshakes… and a whole lot of joy for the local community.

A great burger on the Praça Nova after a night dancing to the soulful sounds of Cesária Évora — a whole generation of Mindelo still remembers it. After many wonderful years on the square, Helena and Patrice decided to return to Corsica. But the story didn’t end there.milkshakes… and a whole lot of joy for the local community.
2021: Le Metalo is Reborn in a 19th Century Colonial House
In 2021, Le Metalo was reborn in a beautiful 19th century colonial house in the heart of Mindelo, São Vicente. The menu was reimagined with carefully crafted dishes and drinks — and of course, our delicious burgers are still very much on the menu. Thank you for being part of this story. We hope you enjoy a wonderful moment in our lush, green space.
